SSA TO OKOWA ON HEALTH MONITORING VISITS OKWE GENERAL HOSPITAL, DSPHCDA

In his determination to deliver on his assignment, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Health Monitoring, Dr. Michael Nwoko, on Saturday, defied the rain to pay an unscheduled visit to the Okwe General Hospital, in Oshimili south local government area of Delta state.

 
As at 8:00am, Dr Nwoko and his team had arrived the hospital complex for an on the spot assessment and evaluation of health care facilities.


Dr. Nwoko was impressed that staff of the hospital were already seated at their duty posts and ready for the day’s job.


The records department was the first port of call where he inquired to know how the records of the enrollees of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission were kept.


The SSA was later taken round the various departments and clinics by the Zonal Medical Director of the hospital,  Dr. Mark Agadas, joined by other departmental heads.


Dr. Nwoko said the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa placed high premium on the health and well being of Deltans, explaining why health was paramount in his programmes and policies.


He noted that the goal was to take quality, accessible and affordable health care closer to the people and not the people going for it, stressing that to achieve this monitoring, evaluation and continuous accessement were inevitable.


The Zonal Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Mark Agadas, commended the SSA for his proactiveness, adding that it was his first time of seeing a  vibrant and dynamic SSA to the Governor in action.

 
Dr Agadas promised to work closely with the SSA, through the Hospitals Management Board, in order to achieve the set goals.


The SSA, Dr. Nwoko and his team later proceeded to the Delta State Primary Healthcare Development Agency where they were received by the Director, Planning, Research and statistics, Dr. Gloria Ferife.

 
He said the visit was to foster closer collaboration with the agency in the effective monitoring and evaluation of primary health care facilities across the State.

 
Dr. Gloria Ferife pledged the agency’s support for the SSA in the discharge of his duties.
