The leadership of the Delta South Senatorial District chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has been charged to maintain the track record of victory for the party in the senatorial district.
The Senior Political Adviser to the Governor of Delta state, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon, gave the charge when the senatorial district executive paid him a courtesy visit in Asaba.
Honourable Solomon noted that Delta south PDP won all the seats contested in the last general election, describing it as a feat achieved through hard work and determination of party faithful in the district to propagate the ideals of the party and the giant strides of the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
The Senior Political Adviser said the ability of PDP stakeholders in Delta south to avoid the pitfalls of impunity and imposition of candidates which worked against the party at the national level in 2015, helped to boost the integrity and credibility of the party in the senatorial district, giving it an edge over the opposition.
He urged PDP members in the district to reach out to the grassroots ahead of the 2023 election to be able to win more members and consolidate the party’s victory in that part of the state, adding that the party should be united and focused at the unit, ward and local government levels of the senatorial district
Honourable Solomon assured party faithful in the senatorial district that Governor Okowa and the leadership of the party at the state level were appreciative of the role they played in the last election and would reward them accordingly.
The Senior Political Adviser, however, reminded them that it would not be possible to give appointment to all and urged them to be patient and continually supportive of the Okowa administration.
The Delta south PDP chairman and former Commissioner for Urban Renewal, Honourable Julius Takeme, said the party was solidly on ground in the senatorial district which accounted for the overwhelming victory recorded in the last election.
Honourable Takeme, while congratulating the Senior Political Adviser on his well deserved appointment, said PDP in the district was already strategizing for the 2023 election and would record greater victory in the election.
The Delta south PDP chairman pleaded that party faithful in the district be appreciated for their role in the last election to encourage them to work harder for the 2023 election.
