Delta state government has been given a pat on the back for the steps it has taken to reposition the state owned media houses for greater efficiency.

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in the state, Dr Henry Ofa, who gave the commendation in a chat with newsmen, said the appointment of a new General Manager for the Delta Printing and Publishing Company, Mr Monday Uwagwu and an Acting GM for DRTV Warri, Pastor Malcolm Oteri, had in a short period of time scaled up the performance of the two organizations.

Dr Ofa noted that DBS Asaba ( Radio and Television ) had also improved with stronger signals and wider reach, adding that the appointment of Mr Charles Aniagwu as Commissioner for Information was a huge advantage to the quest to place the state owned media houses on the right pedestal for improved performance.

He advised the management and staff of the media houses to change their attitude to work to be able to sustain the current status of the organisations and remain relevant to the highly competitive media industry.

Dr Ofa expressed confidence in the capability of Mr Charles Aniagwu to lead the media outfits to the desired destinations, describing him as a great achiever and result oriented.

The PDP chieftain advocated training and retraining programmes for staff of the media houses to keep them abreast of the modern trends in media practice, adding that improved welfare was key to boosting the morale of any workforce.

He called on Deltans to continue to support the policies and programmes of the Okowa administration.
