OBIANO INAUGURATES RECONSTRUCTED HOSPITAL WHERE HE WAS BORN

Anambra State government has reiterated its commitment to partnering the Mission and other key players in the Health sector for effective healthcare delivery in the State.

Governor Willie Obiano stated this when he inaugurated the reconstructed Immaculate Heart Multi Specialty Hospital, Aguleri in Anambra East Local government Area.

The Inauguration of the facility commenced with a Holy mass officiated by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, and Auxilliary Bishop of Onitsha Archdiocese Most Reverend Dennis Isizo and other Catholic Priests.

According to Governor Obiano, his administration had intervened in many General Hospitals, adding that while the Onitsha General Hospital was ninety five percent complete, Enugwu-Ukwu General Hospital was sixty Percent and Ekwulobia General Hospital forty five percent complete. 

The Governor, who was accompanied to the event by his wife Dr. Ebelechukwu, pointed out that the Umueri Hospital would soon receive attention, saying that his administration was making steady progress in Healthcare delivery.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, stressed that the state government which was already partnering the mission and other key players in Healthcare delivery, had mapped out series of programmes in the health sector for Anambra people.

The Chief Executive Officer of Immaculate Heart Multi Specialty Hospital, Reverend Father Chimaobi Okoye, said the hospital, where Governor Obiano was born, had been in existence since the 1950s.

Speaking to newsmen, the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Marcel Ifejiofor, Chairman of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Chief Tony Oli, the Traditional Ruler of Umueri, Igwe Ben Emeka and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Ifeatu Obiokoye described the project as one that would bring good health to the people of the area.

The event was attended by some top government functionaries, including the State Chief Judge, Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu, former Deputy Governor, Mr. Emeka Sibeudu, Traditional rulers, among others.
