The Secretary to the Delta State Government, Mr Chiedu Ebie, has said the OKowa administration appreciates the efforts of committed members of the People’s Democratic Party in the state at securing victory for the party in the last general election.
The SSG, who spoke to Gallantreporters in Asaba on Thursday, said the state government was aware of the high expectation of party faithful as it concerned political appointment, but that it was unrealistic for any right thinking person to expect the government to give appointment to all that deserved to be appointed.
Mr Ebie said Governor Ifeanyi OKowa was taking his time to make the appointments in a manner that the multiplier effects would be far reaching across groups and stakeholders that truly worked for the party.
He stated that it was unfair for any support group or individual to allege maginalisation in political appointment, adding that the process was still on.
The SSG disclosed that although many support groups were now claiming to have worked for the party, some of them were not accredited by the appropriate authority to engage in electioneering activities and should not expect any reward.
He called on politicians in the state to be patient as the appointments roll out, pointing out that the dividend of democracy was not all about appointment.
