LAGOS- The President, Society for West African Internal Audit Practitioners (SWAIAP) Patrick Nzechukwu, has said the group is focused on training and development of internal auditors in West African States and the neighborhood.
Nzechukwu stated this in Lagos at the inauguration of the substaintive Executive Directors of the body.
He said SWAIAP was Incorporated to awaken consciousness and relevance of internal auditing in West African States, particularly to institutionalize internal auditing as a foremost tool for anti-corruption, anti-wastes, inefficiency and ineffectiveness.
SWAIAP President explained that it was for this reason that the Executives Directors were inaugurated by the Transition Committee for Good Governance (TCCG) set up amongst the assemblage of professionals.
The Executive Directors include Bieni Victor General Secretary and Director of Information, Anthony Nosy Assistant General Secretary, Ogechi Odumah Director of Operations, Adeogun Christopher Olutobi Director of Internal Audit, Orji Joel Assistant Director of Internal Audit, Obinna Okafor Director of Programme,Training and Research, among others.
In his acceptance speech, SWAIAP Boss admonished all the Executive Directors of the body to be committed to delivering the group’s strategic objectives of mitigating all forms of financial and non- financial risks through evidential assurance of effective corporate governance, risk management and Internal control processes, adding that they should comply with the laid down laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
He charged them to embark on rapid membership drive and entrenchment of organizational culture.
