Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has warned operators in the oil and gas (downstream) sector in Anambra State to play by the rules or risk sanctions.

The Operations Controller at the DPR in Anambra,  Mr. Ignatius Anyanwu, who gave the warning in Awka, said the agency would not tolerate fleecing of customers under any guise, expressing the hope that its presence would ease business environment for operators in the state.

Mr. Anyanwu said the DPR was embarking on comprehensive surveillance of the state to enable it to have a good mapping for proper monitoring.

He said operators should check their facilities regularly, service their machines and ensure that they dispensed according to standards; adding that they could call for assistance in case of difficulty.

It will be recalled that the Chairman of Elders Consultative Forum of Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSCON) Igwe Emeka Ilouno, had claimed that the pressure to include Anambra among oil-producing states forced DPR to establish a branch at Awka.
