DELTA State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, has ordered the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information to liaise with the relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to speedily produce a design for the development of the permanent site of the Delta Printing and Publishing Company, DPPCL, publishers of The Pointer Titles.

Mr Aniagwu, who on Friday paid a familiarization visit to the DPPCL, which is one of parastatals supervised by his Ministry, frowned at the deplorable state of the structure currently serving as the office of the state owned newspaper outfit.

“I want us to commence the process of developing the permanent site of the company immediately; where they are now does not depict the stronger Delta vision of the Okowa administration.”

“Our Governor believes in well motivated workforce and an ideal work environment is required for the workers to bring out their bests that is why a multi-billion naira Central Secretariat is being constructed.”

“The good thing about The Delta Printing and Publishing Company is that there is already an existing land for the permanent site. The Permanent Secretary should liaise with the appropriate authorities to produce the designs for the development of the permanent site immediately, because, the staff of The Pointer Publishing House should operate in a conducive environment,” Mr Aniagwu said.

The General Manager of DPPCL, Mr Monday Uwagwu, had explained to the Commissioner the operations of the company and why it deserved a better work environment.

Mr Aniagwu later proceeded to DBS road to inspect the DPPCL permanent site from where he moved to the printing press of the Ministry of Information.

He also paid an unscheduled visit to the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) Asaba.
