Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has urged people willing to place advertisements on his 63th birthday anniversary to rather channel the resources to mentally deranged and less privileged persons in the society.

Governor Obiano, whose birthday is August 8, 2019, in a press release signed by the Commissioner of Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba, acknowledged the requests from individuals and groups, including media organisations, to place advertisements in the mass media congratulating him on his birthday.

He said he preferred people and institutions to pray for him and Anambra State.

Chief Obiano said CAFI has been involved deeply in a lot of charity, including building houses for widows across the state and providing artificial limbs to those who needed but could not afford them, as well as in free treatment of persons with cleft palate and cleft lips at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, and Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.

The Governor pointed out that donations from members of the public in connection with his birthday would be used for the treatment of mentally challenged people and in the enhancement of their welfare.

Chief Obiano drew public attention to the plight of people with mental illness and requested public spirited individuals and groups to donate generously to their cause.
