94 YEAR OLD IGWE OF NNEWI JOINS ANAMBRA WALK FOR LIFE EXERCISE

The tenth edition of the monthly walk for life fitness exercise, organized by the Anambra State Sports Development Commission has taken place at Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area, with the nonagenarian traditional ruler, Igwe Keneath Orizu flagging of the walk.

Speaking at the end of the exercise, Chairman, Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Mr. Tony Oli noted that it was historic to finally have the walk berth in Nnewi, as the ten kilometers walk, which kicked off and ended at the Palace of the traditional ruler had become a refreshing way for the people to keep fit.

Mr. Oli expressed satisfaction that communities were now starting up their own fitness exercise to complement the effort and key message of the state government for Ndi Anambra to keep fit through exercise.

In an interview, the Commissioner Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Mr. Afam Mbanefo, remarked that it was healthy to keep fit through the Walk For Life Exercise and urged Ndi Anambra in different age categories to  appreciate the importance of exercise.

The Crown Prince of Nnewi, who also doubles as the Transition Committee Chairman for Nnewi North, Mr. Chukwudi Orizu and many others who spoke at the end of the walk, said the exercise had come to stay and that the local government Council would replicate it to keep indigenes and residents fit.

The features of the walk, which include the traditional ogene music, aerobic exercise and fruit breakfast were all part of the Nnewi tenth edition of the walk.
