A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Dr Henry Ofa, has congratulated former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori on his 61st birthday anniversary.
Dr Ofa, an erstwhile member of the Delta State Post Primary Education Board in his congratulatory message, said Ibori had remained indispensable to Deltans despite leaving office about 12 years ago, noting that his love for good governance was a unifying factor among Deltans.
He noted that outside the governorship office, Ibori had remained a source of inspiration to all, and a rallying point for national politics, while his peaceful initiatives across the Niger Delta region had cemented broken walls and healed the wounds of mutual distrust that once tore the region apart.
According to him, Ibori’s stint as Governor of the state saw numerous projects in all parts of the state, including the riverine communities that were once thought impossible to develop.
Dr Ofa said men still relished the former Governor’s rare leadership excellence, women yet savoured his political dexterity and the youths were joyfully learning the wonderful lesson of how he turned Delta State to a construction site and initiated the simultaneous development of multiple cities across the three senatorial districts of the state.
The PDP chieftain maintained that Asaba, Warri, Agbor, Ughelli, Sapele, Oghara, Abraka, among other cities could all attest to the visionary leadership of Chief Ibori, adding that the hitherto dark communities he connected to the national power grid and opened up for social and economic advancement would never stop singing his praises.
He cited Ibori’s legacies to include the Omadino and Ase bridges as well as the imposing navigational bridge over River Raymos in Bomadi; all laid out in difficult marshy terrains thought impossible to build on.
Dr Ofa said the immortality of the former Governor was also explicitly sealed in the establishment of the state owned polytechnics at Oghara, Ogwashi-Uku and Ozoro, as well as the world class Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara.
He prayed God to grant Ibori good health and long life to be able to impact more on humanity.
