The Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable Ochor Christopher Ochor, has commended Chief James Ibori for leaving legacies of peace, unity and all round development during his eight year tenure as Governor of Delta state.

Ochor, in a congratulatory message to Ibori on his 61st birthday, recalled the ethnic crisis that greeted his administration in 1999 and how he weathered the storm to bring the situation under control and reunite the warring parties.

The Deputy Speaker said the former Governor realized the need for the development of the state at the onset of the current democratic dispensation and was quick to initiate policies and programmes that scaled up infrastructural and human capital development, as well as security of lives and property in the state.

He noted that the foundation laid by the Ibori administration had remained solid over 12 years after his tenure, adding that it had helped successive administrations to consolidate his legacies which had taken the state to greater heights socially, economically and politically.

Ochor prayed for good health, long life and increased wisdom for Chief Ibori and wished him many happy returns.
