A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta state, Dr Henry Ofa, has felicitated with the 17 newly sworn-in Commissioners in the state on the privilege given them to serve.

Dr Ofa, a former member of the Board of the Post Primary Education Board, PPEB, in an interview with newsmen shortly after the inauguration of the Commissioners, said it was indeed a rare privilege as pointed out by the Governor considering the very many qualified persons who deserved to be appointed.

He congratulated the Governor on the successful assembling of a team of tested and trusted politicians as members of the State Executive Council, saying that the stage was set for the realization of a stronger Delta state.

Dr Ofa said it was heart warming to note that the choice of the Commissioners was an outcome of wide consultations, geo-political consideration, rigorous scrutiny and quiet contemplation, explaining that he was not surprised at the calibre of men and women appointed.

The PDP chieftain reminded the new Commissioners of the need to live above board in view of the high expectations of the people, adding that they should strive to justify the trust and confidence reposed in them by the Governor.

Dr Ofa acknowledged the fact that there were still many people expecting to be appointed into positions and called for patience and understanding on the part of such persons as it was not possible to give appointment to everyone who deserved it.

He said there were other areas than appointment through which people could enjoy the dividends of democracy,  advising politicians to push for meaningful projects for their people as the multiplier effects were far reaching.
