SOLDIER KILLS A DRIVER FOR HITTING HIS CAR

A Lance Corporal attached to the 4 Brigade of the Nigeria Army, one Moses Oguche, has been arrested by the police for stabbing a driver to death.

The victim, identified as Mr Ogbimi, was an employee of Big Joe Motors, Benin and had gone to Okenne, Kogi State to repair a faulty vehicle belonging to the company.

He was said to have hit a silver colour Nissan Premera marked Abuja- KWL 811-AP belonging to the suspect, while driving a towing van.

During an arguement that ensued between them, the angry soldier stabbed the driver and later fled the scene for fear of being mobbed.

He was given a hot chase, apprehended and handed over to policemen at the Agbede Divisional Police Headquarters.

The Commissioner of Police in Edo state, DanMallam Mohammed, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the state police headquarters in Benin City. CP DanMallam said the case was under investigation, assuring that justice would be done in the case.

Also speaking on the incident, the Public Relations Officer for 4 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Captain Maidawa Ibrahim Mohammed said, the lost of life in the controversial circumstance was highly regrettable.

Captain Mohammed said the incident was certainly not in line with the professional disposition of the Nigeria Army which placed high premium on the sanctity of human life.
