Chief Edwin Uzor has resumed duty at the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution where he served in the last dispensation before his reappointment.
He formally took over from the Director in the office, Charles Enuenwugu, who held forth.
In a brief remark, Chief Uzor thanked God and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who made his reappointment possible.
The Special Adviser said the Okowa administration was deeply committed to ensuring peace and security in all parts of the state because no meaningful development could be achieved without peace.
He acknowledged the role played by critical stakeholders in the peace process, including the State Advisory and Peace Building Council, the Advocacy Committee Against Vandalism of Oil and Gas Facilities, traditional rulers, community leaders,community based organisations among others, in the achievement of peace, adding that his office was privileged to have been part of the peace infrastructure in the state.
Chief Uzor said peace building and conflict resolution were key components of Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR, anchored on the principle of No Victor, No Vanguished, the spirit of Give and Take and Live and Let Live. He pointed out that the target was to achieve peace, nip potential crisis in the bud and bring warring parties together without bitterness.
The Special Adviser appealed to Deltans, especially the leadership of Community Development Committees, and multi national companies operating in the state, to shun divisive tendencies capable of igniting crisis at the community level, as the state government would deal decisively with any individual or group found to be working against its peace building efforts.
Chief Uzor pledged the readiness of his office to work with the Governor to build a stronger Delta state where everyone would be free to confidently pursue his or her dreams in a safe, secure and enabling environment.
He assured investors that the state was safe to do business and urged them to take advantage of the prevailing peace in the state.
Eailier, while handing over the authority of the office to the Special Adviser, the Director, Mr Charles Enuenwugu, recalled the excellent performance of Chief Uzor in the last dispensation and expressed optimism that he would do better in his second coming.
The Director pledged the support of staff of the office for Chief Uzor, to ensure the realization of the set goals of the Okowa administration.
