OCHONOGOR TASKS STAFF OF HOUSING MINISTRY ON PROFESSIONALISM

Members of staff of the Delta state Ministry of Housing have been asked to be conscious of the professional status of the ministry.

The Commissioner in charge of the ministry, Chief Festus Ochonogor, made the call in his maiden interactive session with the staff at the ministry’s headquarters in Asaba.

Chief Ochonogor said the ministry was supervising many building projects in different parts of the state which called for the application of high standards and conformity to international best practices.

The Commissioner warned against collusion with contractors to cut corners, stressing that integrity must be upheld in the ministry at all times.

He said he had been briefed about the challenges of the ministry, pointing out that the interactive session was to familiarize himself with the staff and seek ways to move the establishment forward.

Chief Ochonogor promised to find solutions to some of the challenges, assuring the staff that he would run an open door administration and encouraged them to be open minded and supportive of one another in official matters for the overall success of the ministry.

He further assured that no member of staff would be witch hunted, oppressed or marginalized in the scheme of things and urged the to individually and collectively put in their best in order to make themselves relevant in the march towards a stronger Delta state

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Chris Ukpeh, who spoke on behalf of the staff, congratulated Chief Ochonogor on his well deserved appointment, adding that they were happy and fortunate to have him as Housing Commissioner.

Dr Ukpeh pledged the cooperation and support of the staff for the commissioner to enable him to succeed, adding that they would remain dedicated to their duties to ensure the attainment of set goals of the Okowa administration in the Housing sector.
