Following the withdrawal of the appeal pending at the Supreme Court against the judgment of the Court of Appeal as to the authenticity of APC leadership in Delta State, a group, the Urhobo Nationalist Movement has commended Olorogun Otega Emerhor, Chief Cyril Ogodo and others for heeding the advice of well-meaning Urhobo leaders and religious leaders in the interest of the Urhobo nation.
It will be recalled that the Court of Appeal sitting in Benin about two months ago, set aside the judgment of the Federal High Court, Asaba that recognized the Cyril Ogodo-led faction of the APC leadership in Delta State as the authentic state party executive.
The Ogodo-led faction had appealed the judgment at the Supreme Court but caving in to pressure from well-meaning Urhobo leaders, traditional rulers and religious leader, the appellant in the case, Chief Cyril Ogodo and the leader of the APC Mainstream, Olorogun Emerhor applied to the Supreme Court for the discontinuation of the case which was fixed for hearing in October 14, 2019.
Briefing newsmen shortly after the application for the discontinuation of the case was filed, the leader of the Urhobo Nationalist Movement, Alhaji Mumakai Unagha, thanked Olorogun Emerhor, Chief Cyril Ogodo and others for acting in the interest of the Urhobo nation, adding that it was a decision for the good of all.
The group, however, used the occasion to call on the other groups to seize the opportunity offered by the discontinuation of the case to usher in total reconciliation and progress of the party in the state, adding that the future of the party should be the prime focus of all members.
It also called on followers of both senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Olorogun Emerhor to shealth their swords on the basis of no Victor no Vanquished.
