The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has reacted to Obasanjo’s letter to Buhari, telling the former President that he will hear from the northern Nigeria’s foremost socio-cultural group very soon.
Obasanjo had in his open letter to Buhari made public on Monday, July 15, 2019, warned that the President might plunge the country into Rwanda-like genocide if he failed to address the resentment ethnic groups in the country were having about one another.
The letter, which was not the first written by Obasanjo, also alleged that the incumbent president was not tackling the issue of clash between Fulani herdsmen and local farmers seriously.
The National Publicity Secretary of ACF, Muhammad Ibrahim Biu, in Kaduna disclosed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo would soon hear from them.
President Muhammadu Buhari is one time Grand patron of the ACF, which also endorsed his candidature during the 2019 Presidential elections.
Reacting to the widespread letter in which Obasanjo decried the Buhari administration’s handling of the security situation in the country, ACF said it was still studying the letter and would respond to Obasanjo soon.
Nigerians have hailed the courage of Obasanjo in calling the attention of the APC-led government of Buhari to the insecurity situation in the country.
Obasanjo’s letter was published and made public a few days after gunmen suspected to be herdsmen killed Mrs. Funke Olukunrin, daughter of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
