Delta state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Chief Patrick Ukah, has urged contractors handling the ministry’s projects to stick to job specifications in order to deliver quality projects at all times.

The commissioner made the call when he inspected two completed blocks of six classrooms each at the Government Model Secondary School, Asaba.

Chief Ukah said shoddy jobs by contractors would no longer be tolerated as it portrayed the government in bad light and warned that any contractor that failed to deliver quality jobs would not be paid.

He, however, commended the Model Secondary School contractor for doing a good job and urged the principal of the school to ensure that the facilities were put to good use to justify the state government’s huge investment in the education sector.

The commissioner assured the school principal that steps were being taken to ensure that the classroom blocks were put to use by the next academic session to decongest the existing classrooms.

The principal of the school, Mrs. Carol Oraegbuna, thanked the state government for constructing the classroom blocks in the school to decongest the existing classrooms.

She assured the commissioner that the school authority would ensure that the facilities were well maintained and protected from vandals.
