Mr Chiedu Ebie, as he prefers to be addressed, hails from Agbor-Alidinma, in Ika south local government area of Delta state.
He studied Law at the University of Benin between 1986 and 1991 and graduated with the Bachelor of Law Degree before proceeding to the Nigerian Law school where he was called to Bar in 1992
His work experience as a corporate and commercial lawyer saw him work with some of the reputable Law firms in Nigeria.
Mr Ebie’s proven abilities and track record of quantum successes spurred him to the position of partner in a short space of time.
As partner, he was involved in advising clients of diverse nature in areas such as Privatization, Capital Market Transactions, Joint Venture Investments, Corporate Finance, Real Estate Development and Oil and Gas, among others.
In 2003, he transited from legal practice to the Oil and Gas industry at the invitation of a Group of Oil investors to facilitate their bid for the 2003 marginal field-licensing round.
He went on to become the Managing Director/CEO of Millennium Oil and Gas Company Limited (an indigenous exploration and production company, and the operator of the Oza marginal field located onshore –Niger Delta) in 2010.
During his tenure as the CEO, the Company witnessed rapid growth with significant gains towards commercial production with the de-risking of the asset and raising about $30million in Equity and Debt features from Nigerian financial institutions and partners.
With over 20 years post “Call” experience in Corporate and Commercial practice and in the upstream sector of the Oil and Gas industry, Mr Chiedu Ebie was appointed into the Delta State Executive Council by the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, as Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in 2015, and was instrumental to the massive upgrade of infrastructure in primary and post primary schools across the state.
A people oriented personality and team player, his passion for education whilst in the corporate sphere and his track record of always attaining success, propped him as a perfect fit to spearhead the revolution needed to restore Delta State to her rightful place as the pacesetter in education in Nigeria.
A humble, unassuming and smart looking personality, Mr Chiedu Ebie, was on the 3rd of June, 2019 sworn-in as Secretary to the Delta State Government by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and has left no one in doubt that he is eminently qualified and prepared for the plump job.
