The newly appointed Delta state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Chief Patrick Ukah, has charged the management and staff of the ministry to be dedicated to their duties in order to sustain the development strides attained in the education sector during the first tenure of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Chief Ukah gave the charge while interacting with the management and staff of the ministry on his resumption of duty.
The Commissioner said education was one of the key programmes in the SMART Agenda of the Okowa administration and as such the government would continue to place priority in construction and renovation of schools in the state.
He commended the staff of the ministry for the support they gave to the immediate past commissioner and urged them to extend same to him.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Comrade Samuel Dietake, congratulated Chief Ukah on his appointment as a Commissioner and his subsequent deployment to the ministry.
He assured the Commissioner that staff of the ministry would give him all the support he would need to succeed in his new assignment.
The highlight of the brief ceremoby was the presentation of hand over note to the Commissioner by the Permanent Secretary and the inspection of various departments of the ministry by the Commissioner.
