Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, on Tuesday administered oath of office on five Special Advisers, saying that their knowledge, wisdom and experience will improve the performance of his administration in its strive to deliver on its electoral promise of a Stronger Delta.
Governor Okowa, who spoke shortly after swearing-in the Special Advisers at Government House, Asaba, said they had important roles to play in present day democratic setting.
He said they were carefully selected for their specific policy expertise and ability to skillfully navigate the layers of bureaucracy and partisan viewpoints to deliver on the administration’s goals and objectives, adding that moder statecraft placed a demand on them to lessen the burden of the demanding and complex workload of the State Chief Executive.
Those sworn-in at the well-attended ceremony were Professor Sylvester Monye (Senior Policy Adviser); Dr Kingsley Emu (Chief Economic Adviser); Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo (Housing and Human Development); Honourable Emmanuel Okoro (Rural and Community Development) and Honourable Efe Ofoburuku (Legislative Matters).
The Governor, who observed that the expectations of building a stronger Delta by his administration were high, asserted that his administration was always ready and willing to work with Deltans at home and in the diaspora and from all walks of life, and would always welcome advice and suggestions that would help to better the lot of the people and make Delta State the pride of all.
He called on all and sundry to continue to pray for the success of his administration so that the people would be better for it
Responding on behalf of the Special Advisers, Professor Sylvester Monye thanked Governor Okowa for believing in their abilities to render advice and contribute to the success stories of his administration, assuring that they would do their best to ensure the realization of a Stronger Delta State.
