VICTIMS OF 2018 ALIFEKEDE RAIN STORM DISASTER GET RELIEF MATERIALS FROM DELTA STATE GOVT

The people of Alifekede community in Ika south local government area of Delta state have received relief materials from the state government to cushion the effect of the 2018 rainstorm in the area.

The relief packages were presented by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who sympathized with the victims of the rainstorm.

The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, advised the people to be watchful and vigilant, especially this rainy season to avoid loss of lives and property and thanked them for their patience.

Governor Okowa urged the beneficiaries to put the money given to them to good use, adding that it was pertinent to note that other communities were also affected by the 2018 rainstorm.

Speaking on the occasion, the member representing the Ika South constituency in the State House of Assembly, Honourable Festus Okoh, said the packages were Governor Okowa’s special intervention to cushion the effect of the rainstorm in the area.

Honourable Okoh, who thanked the Governor for the gesture, urged the beneficiaries to ultilize the packages for the good of their families and to continue to support the Okowa administration in order to attract more dividends of democracy to the area.

Others who spoke in an interview, including the Ika South local government chairman Honourable Victor Okoh and the Director of the State Emergency Management Agency Mr. Karo Ovemeso, expressed appreciation to the Governor for the gesture saying it was a good response to the plight of the storm victims.

The beneficiaries who could not hide their excitement, thanked Governor Okowa for coming to their aid and pledged to put it relief packages to good use.

They urged Governor Okowa not to relent and prayed God to continue to protect and guide him in piloting the affairs of the state.
