The Delta State Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer, Engineer Oyakemeagbaghe Ezonebi, has advised motorists in the state to ensure that their vehicles are road worthy to avoid crashes this rainy season.

Engineer Ezonebi, who was speaking in Asaba, said motorists needed to be safety conscious by ensuring that the vital components of their vehicles were in good working condition.

He said the wipers were important if one must drive in the rains, adding that motorists whose vehicles had no Air Conditioners should fix their heaters to ensure visibility through the windscreen during the rains.

The Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer said the brakes should also be in good working condition to guarantee friction between the tyres and the road, while the lighting system, particularly the head lights and brake lights must be functional.

Engineer Ezonebi stated that the Vehicle Inspection Office in the Directorate of Transport would continue to educate and enlighten the driving published on safety tips, while regularly carrying out road checks on vehicles to ensure their worthiness to ply the roads and reduce crashes to the barest minimum.
