Over two thousand corps members deployed to Anambra State for the
Twenty-nineteen Batch ‘B’ Stream One programme have been sworn-in for a two-week orientation exercise.
The swearing-in exercise took place at the NYSC Temporary
Orientation Camp Umunya, during which the corps members were charged to be active
participants in the development efforts of their host communities
through effective integration.
Out of the two thousand, two hundred corps members, one thousand and sixty-seven were males, while one thousand, one hundred and thirty-three were females.
In his speech, Governor Willie Obiano, who noted that the scheme has over the years, lived up to the vision of impacting positively on national development especially in rural communities through
developmental projects.
He reminded them that the success of every service year depends on the foundation laid during the orientation, which he said, is crucial in providing requisite platform for their physical, mental, emotional and psychological preparation.
Governor Obiano, who spoke through the State Head of Service, Barrister Harry Udu asked the corps members to break new grounds and surpass the achievements of their predecessors in the scheme, pledging the commitment of his administration in providing enabling environment for the youths to maximize their potential.
He assured that the on-going work at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Mbaukwu /Umuawulu, would be ready for use in August this year.
In his address, the Commissioner for Youth Entrepreneurship and
Creative Economy, who is also the Chairman of the NYSC Governing
Board, Mr. Afam Mbanefo, urged the corps members to utilize the
opportunity of the orientation exercise to imbibe the virtues of
loyalty, discipline and commitment to become better members of the
society.
The Anambra State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mr. Kehinde Aremu, while enumerating some of the camp activities including skill acquisition, entrepreneurship programmes and social activities, thanked Governor Obiano for his support to the scheme and solicited for more.

promised to be of good conduct.

Amaechina, thug of war competition, martial arts exhibition, as well as three hearty cheers by the Corps members, added glamour to the event.
