The just constituted 7th Anambra State House Assembly Members have in one accord spoken vehemently against the deplorable of road infrastructure in their various constituencies.

Honourable John Nwokoye of Awka-North state constituency implored the State Commissioner for Works to embark on a tour of roads in Awka-North to ascertain the level of dilapidation and initiate prompt response to remedy the situation.

He expressed worry that one has to go through five local government areas in order to access the Headquarters of Awka-North in Achala whereas the journey according to him, would not take more than five minutes if the road to Isuaniocha – Urum -Achala-Amanuke road was constructed.

For his part, the member representing the Ogbaru One state constituency Honourable Noble Igwe bemoaned the fact that no road has been constructed in his constituency stressing that Okpoko, one of the communities in Ogbaru One, has not witnessed any road construction for many years.

Honourable Igwe therefore urged the present state government to show compassion to his constituents by constructing at least one road in the area.

His Onitsha-North two constituency counterpart, Honourable Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo was not left out in the complaints about bad roads across the state.

He drew the attention of the Commissioner for Works and the State government to Akpaka road in his constituency saying that the said road was vital to the people because of the commercial nature of the area.

Honourable Ibuzo said that the road required urgent construction to aid economic activities in the area.

Honourable JohnBosco Obi of Nnewi-South constituency Two also lamented the very bad state of roads in his area.

He said Ukpor-Ozubulu road as well as some other roads required construction so that his constituents would feel government presence and dividends of democracy.

The representative of Aguata 2 state constituency Honourable Okey Okoye lamented that the road that connected Isuofia and Ekwulobia general hospital was in a total mess and therefore reported to the House that the contractor handling the road project has allegedly absconded.

He maintained that his constituents were willing to construct the Isuofia-Ekwulobia road, if the contractor was still at large.
