Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has urged fathers to build better homes that will reflect positively on the society.
Governor Okowa made the call on Sunday in a chat with newsmen at this year’s Fathers’ Day Thanksgiving Service of St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Boji Boji Owa, Ika North-East local government area.
The governor, who attended the service with his wife, Dame Edith, stressed the need for fathers to play their roles in the society, adding that they should instil discipline in their children because the society is a reflection of the homes.
He said respectful children, and children who obeyed the norms of the society were desired at this point in the nation’s history and appealed to fathers to spend more time at home to be able to monitor their children and correct them when necessary.
Earlier in a sermon, the Bishop of Ika Diocese, Anglican Communion, Right Reverend Godfrey Ekpenisi, urged fathers to build peaceful and stable homes by instilling the virtues of honesty and accountability in their homes.
He said fathers should ensure that the family worshipped in the same church and had the spirit of forgiveness, stating that a peaceful and stable home would not give room for divorce, confusion or infiltration by enemies.
