Super Eagles’ of Nigeria dropped three places to the 45th position in the latest Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) ranking released on Friday ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
The Gernot Rohr tutored side, however, maintained a third place on the continent behind the Terango Lions of Senegal who are placed 22 in the world and Carthage Eagles of Tunisia 25 in world ranking. Friday’s announcement came as a blow to the three-time African Champions who moved up four places in the previous standings back in April.
Super Eagles played a goalless draw with Warriors of Zimbabwe at Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba as part of their preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt during the month’s review.
Morocco is fourth in African and (47), DR Congo [49], Ghana [50], Cameroon [51], Egypt [58], Burkina Faso [59] and Mali [62] make up the other top 10 teams on the continent. The Super Eagles are currently in Ismailia, preparing for their last pre-AFCON 2019 international friendly against Senegal on Sunday, June 16 in Ismailia.
The three-time African champions have been placed in Group B of the tournament with Guinea, Burundi and Madagascar.
