The Delta State House of Assembly consists of 29 members representing the 29 state constituencies of the state.
A close monitoring of the activities of the 6th Assembly revealed that some of the members were active in their legislative duties, some neither hot nor cold, while the rest were bench warmers or sleeping members.
On the active side are Tim Owhefere, Johnson Erijo, Anthony Elekeokuri, Reuben Izeze, Oboro Preyor, Evance Ivwurie, Daniel Mayuku, Emeka Nwaobi, Samuel Mariere, Pat Ajudua, Alphonsus Ojo, Timi Tonye and Efe Ofobruku.
The average members are Angela Nwaka, Orezi Esievo, Dennis Omovie and Peter Onwusanya.
On the dull side are Eric Oharisi, Michael Diden, Monday Igbuya, Daniel Yingi, Erhiateke Ibori-Suenu, Azusa Azaka, Kennedy Daubri, Friday Osanebi, Festus Okoh, Shola Daibo, and Peter Oviejitobor.
As the 7th Assembly begins, members of the Honorable House need to be reminded that legislative business is all about robust debate for or against bills and motions as they affect the lives of the people they have been elected to represent.
Oversight function is another function tied to the line of work of a legislator.
It is expected that all members of the 7th Assembly will live up to their responsibilities to justify the mandate freely given to them by the people.
