Former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and one time Commissioner for Works, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon has been sworn-in as the Senior Political Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, with a charge to be fair, equitable and just in the discharge of his duties.
In his address on the occasion, Governor Okowa urged the Senior Adviser to live above board by demonstrating maturity, patience and calmness in dealing with the political class.
He expressed confidence in the ability of Honourable Funkekeme Solomon to navigate the difficult political terrain, and help in achieving the vision of a Stronger Delta State.
Governor Okowa urged the Senior POLAD to be proactive in managing issues which might arise in the line of duty, especially in the build up to the 2023 elections, stressing that he should ensure peace and political stability in the State.
He said Funkekeme was given the job because the office of the Senior Political Adviser needed to be occupied by a person of great political pedigree and a proven political gladiator with the ability to nip political problems in the bud.
Governor Okowa advised the Senior POLAD to work closely with critical stakeholders, including members of the opposition political parties to bring about mutual understanding and stability in the polity.
Responding, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon thanked Governor Okowa for the opportunity given him to serve the state and promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
The Senior Political Adviser solicited the support and cooperation of stakeholders in achieving set goals, pledging to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of his duties.
