More Communities in Anambra State have benefited from the State Government and World Bank Assisted Community Development Project.

The General Manager Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency Mr. Chudi Mojekwu disclosed this during a two day training for the Community Project Management Committee and sub-committee members of the benefiting communities in Awka.

Mr. Mojekwu said six communities, including Awba-Offemili, Ugbene, Ebenebe, Mgbakwu, Oroma Etiti and Igbakwu were the second set to benefit from the project as work had commenced in ten communities that had already received their funding, noting that more communities would  follow as the process was continuous.

He commended the Anambra state government for providing the counterpart funding which made it possible for the state to be part of the initiative, adding that the essence of the training was to prepare those that would monitor the projects as funds would soon be released, advising them to embrace team work to ensure that the objective of the programme was realized.

In a remark, the Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency project officer in charge of Information, Education, Communication and Training, Mr. Nnamdi Onuzulike, noted that the training would go a long way in preparing members of the Committee who would implement the project.

Some of the committee members undergoing training at IDK learning center in Awka, including the Mgbakwu Community Project Management Committee Chairman Mr. Ejikeme Mbonu and his Awba-Offemili counterpart Mr. Alphonsus Maduabuchi lauded the initiative and thanked Governor Willie Obiano for his effort at improving the standard of living of the people in the rural areas through the community and social development projects.

The World Bank assisted community and social development project is community driven, focusing on building and rebuilding social and natural resource infrastructure services at the community level with the aim of giving the people living with disabilities and the less privileged access to infrastructural development and public facilities.
