Persons in positions of authority have been asked to leave enduring legacies that will speak for them after their tenure in office.
The Vicar in charge of the Anglican church Umuosumili Ossissa, in Ndokwa east local government area of Delta state, Reverend David Maduekwe, made the call in a sermon at a thanksgiving service at the instance of the immediate past chairman, Governing Council of the College of Education Agbor, Chief Emmanuel Onyeukwu.
Reverend Maduekwe said the essence of being appointed into any office was to serve and not for self agrandisement, stressing that diligently serving the people was a way to glorify God.
He commended Chief Onyeukwu for deeming it necessary to appreciate God after leaving office, noting that it was important because he was chosen from among many other qualified persons.
The Anglican priest thanked God for the life of Chief Onyeukwu whom he described as a leader of impeccable character and congratulated him for merritoriouly serving the state without blemish.
In an interview with newsmen, Chief Onyeukwu thanked God for making his appointment possible and for sustaining him while he served as chairman, Governing Council of the College of Education Agbor.
He thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the opportunity given him to serve and solicited continued support for the Governor to make his second tenure successful.
