Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has allegedly commenced the demolition of some monuments built by the immediate past Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

Ihedioha, who was sworn-in as the sixth Executive Governor of the state on Wednesday, May 29, was said to have brought down the Akachi tower, one of the many tourist attractions to the credit of the former Governor, which was commissioned by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo about a week ago.

It was built on a reclaimed dumpsite abandoned by previous administrations.

The purported demolition exercise was supervised by soldiers who prevented journalists from covering the exercise.

The massive tower with the symbol of a hand on the Zenith, representing the hand of God, sits on an expansive plot of land, reserved for religious purposes.
