The Director-General of the defunct Delta State PDP Campaign Council, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon say the May 29 inauguration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as a result of certain parameters which made his reelection possible.
These include his right as a Nigerian to seek reelection, the Governor’s intergrity, his first term performance and the believe of Deltans in the governorship rotation arrangement among the three senatorial districts of the state.
Honourable Funkekeme, who was a guest on a Delta Television morning programme “GOLDEN RIDE” said a tour across the state during the campaigns revealed that Deltans were unanimous in letting the rotation arrangement be.
He said the Transition Committee set up by Governor Okowa was to draw out a road map for the next dispensation, adding that the committee reviewed the activities of government in the past four years, identified the strength and weaknesses and made recommendations for improvement in the second term of the Okowa administration.
Honourable Funkekeme, a former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and one time Commissioner for Works, said the recommendations of the Transition Committee would guide the state government in focusing on areas of need, assuring all sectors and communities that felt marginalised in the past four years that the second tenure would favour them.
He stressed that Governor Okowa was prepared to leave a legacy of stronger and more united Delta state and would stop at nothing to achieve the goal.
