DELTA STATE GOVT DISSOLVES BOARDS, DISENGAGES OTHER POLITICAL APPOINTEES

Boards of some parastatals, commissions, institutions and agencies in Delta state have been dissolved on the orders of the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

A statement from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, listed the affected establishments as the Local Government Service Commission, the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, the State Hospitals Management Board, the State Library Board and the State Bursary and Scholarship Board.

Also dissolved are the Governing Councils of the Colleges of Education Agbor and Warri, the State School of Health Technology Ofuoma, the State School of Marine Technology, the Institute of Continuing Education, ICE, as well as the Boards of the Agency for Adult and Non Formal Education and the State Arts Council.

Others are the Boards of Delta Broadcasting Service Asaba and Warri, the State Tourism Board, the State Urban Water Board, the State Rural Water and Sanitation Agency, the Direct Labour Agency, the Delta State University Teaching Hospital and the Land Allocation Committee.

The Governor also approved the dissolution of the Boards of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board and the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

The dissolution takes immediate effect, while other political appointees other than members of the dissolved Boards have also been asked to quit.

All concerned have been directed to hand over government properties in their possession to the Permanent Secretary or most senior officer in their establishments.

The statement thanked the former appointees for their services to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours.
