With less than two weeks to the end of the first tenure of the present administration, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has signed six bills passed by the Delta State House of Assembly into law.

Prominent among them was an Executive Bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Warri/Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency.

Other bills which received the Governor’s assent were a bill for a law to amend the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency Law of 2015, and the one to regulate the registration, establishment, operations, conduct, monitoring and inspection of Private Health Care Facilities in Delta State.

The Governor also appended his signature to a bill for a law to provide for the audit of Public Accounts of the State Ministries, Departments and Agencies and Local Governments among others aimed at making life more meaningful for Deltans.

Governor Okowa said the bills which came at the tail end of his first term in office were instrumental in the overall development of the state and lauded the synergy that existed between the legislative and executive arms of government.

He thanked the State House of Assembly for passing bills with positive impact on the lives of the people and expressed optimism that potable water supply, quality healthcare services, and public finance accountability, among others, would be available with the signing of the bills into law.

Earlier the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Sheriff Oborovwori, said the lawmakers had enjoyed the cooperation of the Executive arm of government which led to the passing of bills aimed at fast tracking the development of the state.

Honourable Oborovwori said the bills which were presented to the Governor for assent passed through rigorous legislative processes and assured Deltans that more bills would be passed by the House before the end of the first tenure of the Okowa administration.
