The state government has almost completed the construction of a strategic storm drainage system through Okpanam to Asaba to end the perennial flooding in the state capital.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Dr Henry Ofa, who stated this in an interview with newsmen, said the project was in line with the commitment of the Okowa administration to ensuring a sustainable environment and urban renewal.

Dr Ofa noted that the massive project was going on simultaneously with infrastructural and socio-economic   development in other parts of the state, describing Governor Okowa as a master planner.

The Oghara born politician said the storm drainage project was on course with the genuine commitment of the Governor to having it completed, pointing out that the channel from Nnebisi road, through DLA to Jesus Saves road had been completed with the ancillary road works, while the Ralph Uwaechue, through Ibori Gulf Course to Anwai road channel was over 70% complete.

He added that the third channel from DBS road, through the Cabinet road to Amilimaocha river was close to  completion and expressed confidence in the capacity of the contractor to deliver a quality job that would justify the huge investment of government in the project and make the state capital a city to behold.
