The verification of offices of registered political parties in the state by the Office of the Senior Special Assiatant to the Governor on Inter Party Relations continued on Tuesday (yesterday) with visits to the offices of twenty political parties.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter Party Relations, Honourable Efe Tobor, while addressing the chairmen and executive members of the parties during the visit, reminded them that a good office space could boost their public relations and reposition their parties for more serious political activities.
Honourable Efe Tobor said government was not happy with the low standard of the offices of most of the parties, stressing that the parties must upgrade if they are to enjoy continued partnership of the state government.
He debunked insinuations that the verification exercise was meant to witch hunt weak opposition political parties, insisting that the exercise was purely to ascertain the parties on ground in the state and the condition of their offices.
The SSA said the political parties were duely informed ahead of the verification to enable them put their houses in order and wondered why some of them were unable to do the needful.
The chairmen of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Dr Michael Egbo, Nigeria Peoples Congress (NPC), Mamuzo Gabriel and Mrs Oluremi Mohammed of the Change Nigeria Party (CNP) commended the SSA for the bold initiative of verifying the office locations of the political parties, describing those against the move as enemies of a good democratic process.
The political parties whose offices were rated standard are ADP, ANDP, C4C,PCP, CAP, KP and UDP, while APP, BNPP, DA, DPP, NPC, NDLP, ANRP, COP, YP and MDP were rated sub standard.
The offices of Alliance of Social Democrats, Change Nigeria Party and Fresh Democratic Party were adjudged to be below standard.
