Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Professor Tijjani Mohammad Bande is now the new President of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
Outgoing president of the global body, María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés disclosed this at a joint media briefing with the Foreign Affairs minister, Geoffrey Onyeama at the State House, Abuja after a meeting with President Muhammad Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
Profesdor Bande, a former Director-General of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Plateau State was born at Zagga in present day Kebbi State.
He holds a Masters degree in Political Science from Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Toronto, Canada.
The new UNGA President was the Vice-Chancellor Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, bewtwen 2004 and 2009.
