The embattled Senator representing Delta North Senatorial district, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, who was recently sacked as Senator-elect by an Abuja Federal High Court, but has appealed the April 3, 2019 judgement which gave victory in the October 2, 2018 PDP primary to Prince Ned Nwoko, has allegedly been detained by the Code of Conduct Bureau for failure to declare all his assets to the Bureau.
Senator Nwaoboshi was said to have been detained and grilled for several hours on Friday, April 26 over non declaration of three bank accounts with millions of alleged stolen funds as well as assets in different parts of the Country.
Nwaoboshi, who is the chairman Senate Committee on Niger Delta, was reported to have been betrayed by emotions after an intense interrogation, and was later asked to go home and come back on a later date .
Different groups had petitioned the Code of Conduct Bureau to investigate and prosecute Senator Nwaoboshi for failing to declare three bank accounts as well as properties in Asaba, Port Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja, all suspected to have been fraudulently acquired.
Attempts to get the Senator to speak on the development proved abortive as his phone was switched off.
