Principals of public secondary schools in the Delta state have been reminded of their crucial role in the development of the state school system.
The second member of the State Post Primary Education Board, PPEB, Dr Henry Ofa, who was addressing members of the Ethiope west chapter of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, when they visited him in Oghara, said principals needed to work with stakeholders in finding solutions to the challenges militating against effective running of their schools.
He said such stakeholders, including community leaders, corporate organisations, public spirited individuals, as well as teachers and students should be involved in the running of schools.
Dr Ofa informed the principals that in the next school term, the Post Primary Education Board would be visiting the schools on a regular basis to assess their state.
The chairman of ANCOPSS, Ethiope west chapter, Dame Helen Kori, commended Dr Henry Ofa for closely relating with the principals since his appointment into the PPEB Board.
Dame Kori also commended the present Board of the PPEB for regular promotion, unbiased posting and placement of both principals and teachers in the state.
She pledged commitment to the successful running of public schools in the state.
A retired principal and an uncle of Dr Henry Ofa, Mr Evans Ofa, charged the Principals to ensure that they promote love amongst teachers and students in their schools.
The occasion featured the presentation of a DVD plate and journal compilation of the achievements of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa produced by Dr Henry Ofa to the visiting principals.
