Delta State Government has directed contractors handling road projects in the state to increase their workforce in order to meet completion deadlines of projects across the state.

The State Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye, gave the directive while inspecting Sector C2 from Ogwashi-Uku to Asaba of the Ughelli/ Asaba road dualization project with a total length of 21.267 kilometers.

He called for an increase in the  workforce of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Nig  Ltd, CCECC,  handlers of the project, in order to align with the speed drive of the state government to complete it in 18 months.

Augoye disclosed that the Sector C1 of the Ughelli/Asaba road dualization, which detailed from Ogwashi-Uku to Ossissa has been approved, adding that the move depicted the state government’s commitment to completing the project.

The Area Manager, CCECC, Mr. Wang Wen Long, assured the government that the project would be completed within the stipulated 18 months period.

He, however, explained that only extreme weather conditions might hamper the speedy completion of the project.

”We are filling this section. We will apply stone base soon. The weather has a major role to play in its completion.”

According to Mr Wang, the host community has been very peaceful and cooperative.
