The Coordinator for the Anglican Children Ministry ACM, of Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church Okpanam, in Oshimili north local government area of Delta state, Mrs Florence Nwabuine, has spoken strongly against the abandonment of home keeping for House Helps by most working class mothers.
Mrs Nwabuine, who preached the sermon at this year’s Mothering Sunday of the church with the theme : “Mothers Are Faithful Builders”, noted with dismay the increasing rate at which most working class mothers had tended to prefer their jobs and businesses to building their homes, which had led to the breaking of some homes.
She said it was dangerous for mothers to leave the running of their homes in the hands of House Helps, as that had forced the men exposed to such a situation into unfaithfulness in their marriages, sometimes with the House Helps.
While saying that all women with children are mothers, the female preacher maintained that not all of them are faithful builders, as love and kindness were needed to build a faithful home.
Mrs Nwabuine, who is also the chairman planning committee of the event, said every good mother should extend love to her family, the church and the society to ensure peace and progress in the affairs of man.
She stressed that prayer was imperative to the building of a faithful home in order to keep the devil at bay.
The service featured a drama presentation by the drama group of the church, performance by the ACM, honouring of Jewels, general thanksgiving, covenant seed, fund raising, thanksgiving by the women and presentation of gifts to mothers.
The Vicar and Archdeacon of the Okpanam Archdeaconry, Venerable Augustine Azuh, participated in the service.
