Returning Officer for the supplementary governorship election in Bauchi state, Professor Kyari Mohammed, has explained that though former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed, polled a total of 6,376 votes to defeat incumbent governor, Mohammed Abubakar who got 5,117 votes in the supplementary election, he could not be returned as Governor-elect.

Professor Kyari, who stated this on Sunday while announcing the result, said he did not make a return because results of the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area were pending in court.

He said the winner of the governorship election would be known and returned after the court process.

Recall that the APC and its Bauchi state governorship candidate, Mohammed Abubakar, filed a suit before the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court halting the collation of results of the March 9 governorship election in Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi state.
