The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Sokoto State, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, has been declared winner of the governorship election in the state.
Tambuwal won with a slim margin, after collation of results from 22 local government areas where supplementary election took place.
Governor Tambuwal polled 512,002 votes to defeat Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who followed closely with 511,661 votes, losing to his erstwhile principal with just 342 votes.
In Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured 6,376 votes ahead of the incumbent Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who had 5,117 votes in the supplementary election held on Saturday.
The result was announced on Sunday by the state Returning Officer, who is also the Vice Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola, Professor Mohammed Kyari.
Also, Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been reelected for a second term in office after securing the highest number of votes in Saturday’s supplementary governorship election.
According to the final result declared by the Returning Officer for the state, Professor Sebastian Maimako of the University of Jos, Ortom polled 434,473 votes as against the 345,155 votes garnered by his main challenger, Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressives Congress, APC
