The House of Assembly Candidate of the Labour Party for the Oshimili South Constituency, Honourable Taju Isichei and his over forty thousand supporters have dumped the party for the PDP
.
Honourable Isichei, who announced the defection at PDP ward five meeting in Asaba, said he was joining the party to contribute his quota to the overall development of the Oshimili south state constituency.
He said the development implied that the entire Labour Party structure in Oshimili south local government area has collapsed into the PDP because of the achievements of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa since he assumed office.
Honourable Isichei, a former Special Adviser to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on Inter-Party Relations, disclosed that he decided to join to the PDP after the elections because he believed that the collective interest of the local government area was above his political ambition, adding that he would not contest the outcome of the House of Assembly election in Oshimili south.
He thanked the Oshimili south PDP chairman, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji and the leadership of the party at the ward level for their commitment to the growth of PDP and promised to offer useful advice that would further strengthen the party in the area.
The PDP chairman for Oshimili south, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, who received Honourable Isichei into the party, commended him for his bold step in joining the winning party to be able to contribute to bringing purposeful transformation to the state capital in line with the SMART agenda of Governor Okowa.
Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, who also presented a PDP membership card to Honourable Isichei and other decampees, gave an assurance that they would all be carried along in the scheme of things.
He said he was gladdened by the confession of Honourable Isichei that he and his supporters voted for Governor Okowa at the elections and urged Deltans to continue to support the PDP government for the accelerated growth of the state.
The meeting, which took place at the PDP ward five secretariat Umuaji Asaba, was attended by stakeholders from the ward.
