The Permanent Secretary, Delta State Directorate of Government House and Protocol, Mr. Eddy Ogidi-Gbegbaje, has urged youths to use their skills positively for the development of the nation.
Mr Ogidi-Gbegbaje said this on Wednesday during a send forth party in honour of the 28 members of the NYSC 2018 Batch A Stream 1 who served in the Directorate in Asaba.
He called on the youth to shun all form of social vices and embrace positive skills for the benefit of the society, stressing that “despite the economic recession you must face life squarely, you need to keep yourself busy, learn more skills, further your education, shun anti-social vices, eschew criminal tendencies and ensure that whatever you do will have positive impact on your life”.
“I urge you to take the part of transparency, fear of God, hard-work and honesty while shying away from get rich quick schemes and social vices”, he said adding “the NYSC scheme has given you the necessary tools that will equip you as you go into the world to start up your lives and leave a positive mark on the state, nation and the world”.
While congratulating the corps members on their successful service year, Mr. Ogidi-Gbegbaje urged them to be good ambassadors of the state, charging them to remain positive, maintain good friendships and strive to be creators of wealth rather than waiting on government for jobs.
Responding on behalf of the corps members, Mr. Akuegbonwu Chikwendu, thanked the permanent secretary and staff of the Directorate for their valuable contribution to the success of their service promising that they would remain good ambassadors of the state and the nation.
