The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, on Inter Party Relations, Honourable Efe Tobor, says opposition political parties in Delta state are satisfied with the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election.
Honourable Tobor, who was reacting to the re-election of Senator Okowa as Governor of Delta state, said he deserved his victory because of the giant development strides of his administration.
He recalled that 39 political parties in the state under the auspices of the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, had adopted Senator Okowa for re-election, adding that the political parties decided to stand by the Governor because of the threat by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to hijack the governorship election in Delta state.
Honourable Tobor, who is also the state chairman of the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, said the opposition political parties in Delta state believed in equity in the rotation of the governorship position among the three senatorial districts of the state, stressing that the political parties saw the need to defend the votes cast during the election all in support of Governor Okowa.
He advised the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Great Ogboru, to join hands with Governor Okowa to build a new Delta state that would be the envy of all.
The SSA appealed to Governor Okowa to continue to run an all inclusive administration that would positively impact on the people, including members of the opposition political parties, and urged the parties to constructively criticism the Okowa administration in areas that need improvement.
Honourable Tobor pledged continued support of the Delta CUPP for the state government.
