DELTA GUBER RACE : PDP In Comfortable Lead In 18 LGAs

The results of Saturday’s governorship election have been released in 19 local government areas of Delta state with Senator Ifeanyi Okowa of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, winning in 18.

The latest results were announced by the Returning Officers of the LGAs at the INEC Collation Centre in Asaba under the watchful eyes of the State Returning Officer, Professor Seth Accra Jaja, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Cyril Omorogbe,  representatives of security agencies as well as officials of the political parties that took part  in the election.

In Sapele local government area, PDP polled 18,572 votes to defeat APC which got 10,457 votes; in Ndokwa east PDP garnered 30,670 votes, while APC secured 4,306 votes to place second.

In Ughelli south, 32,086 votes were cast for PDP and 20,233 votes for APC, while the result from Udu showed 9,042 votes for PDP and 8,605 for APC.

PDP won in Warri south local government area with 34,977 votes as against APC’s 12,982 votes, and in Bomadi local government area PDP polled 63,851, while APC secured 4,437 votes.

In other results earlier announced PDP won in Ukwuani, Ethiope west, Patani, Ika south, Ika north east, Okpe, and Aniocha north local government areas.

The party also secured victory in Oshimili south, Oshimili north, Aniocha south, Isoko north and Isoko south local government areas, leaving the APC with only Ethiope east local government area.

Results from Ndokwa west, Warri north, Warri south west, Burutu, Uvwie and Ughelli north local government areas are expected to be announced on Monday.

Results of the House of Assembly election are being announced at the Local Government Collation Centres across the state.
