The House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Isoko Federal Constituency for the February 23 National Assembly election, Joel Onowakpo-Thomas, has said he will not accept defeat until INEC has corrected “the administrative error it made while announcing the result”.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Obah Sylva, the candidate explained that instead of giving answers to the issue raised, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Honourable Leo Ogor, who was declared winner, asked him to accept defeat.

“Our issues are clear. Over 41,000 eligible voters were denied the opportunity to choose who to represent them in Isoko Federal Constituency. We are yet to understand how a heavily rigged election with less than 11,000 winning margin can be termed a successful election, when there are over 41,000 votes that are outstanding”, he pointed out.

Onowakpo-Thomas called on INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu and the relevant authorities to investigate the abuse of law and bring the Returning Officers and all those involved to book while waiting for the alleged abnormality to be corrected.
